COORONG KAYAKING

Coorong Waterfront Retreat is the perfect destination for your next kayaking adventure!

Use the kayaks provided or bring your own water craft and head directly out from Coorong Waterfront Retreat to explore the Coorong National Park. The water crossing to the Peninsula at this point is approximately 2kms (30-40 minutes one way by kayak). Once on the other side you can trek through the dunes to the ocean beach (40 minutes return).

Alternatively you can follow the inland coast for about ¼ hour and make the shorter water crossing at Robs Point. At low tide walk along the inland coast of the Peninsula. Keep a watch out for kangaroos and emus along this stretch!
For the very fit make Coorong Waterfront Retreat your base for extensive expeditions in both directions along the Coorong. The wind is generally lighter and more consistent during autumn and early winter.
While summer is brilliant for kayaking, particularly at sunset, the winds can turn strong without notice so extra care is required during summer. Where possible check the forecast before heading out. If you are coming to Coorong Waterfront Retreat specificaly for kayaking we suggest that you schedule your trip to coincide with the weather, particularly the wind.

You can check weather statistics for our area (Meningie) here. You can find more information on the Coorong National Park on the Parks SA webisite under “Brochures and Maps”.
