The briefest comment...you will NEVER regret staying here...just read the other comments, they say it all!
Thankyou. This place is a real gem. Beautifully simple but so caringly thought out. Wonderful comfort and attention to detail. We particularly loved all the information about the indigenous history of the area. Who knew that such a rich and diverse wilderness existed so close to Adelaide. We went for a week planning to do a lot of walking and cycling but unfortunately I hurt my knee and couldn't walk. But there was plenty to keep me occupied, from sitting on the deck watching the hundreds of birds on the Coorong, watching the sky endlessly changing, reading in the very private garden, picking herbs , vegetables and the best passion fruit I've ever eaten. A wonderful place for doing nothing, reading, writing, painting, taking photographs, bird watching, kayaking, walking, exploring.we bought beautiful fresh fish in Meningie and found the local museum fascinating and a lot of fun.
Dear Wendy. Thankyou so much for your wonderful hospitallity. We loved our stay, loved your coorong retreat. Such a beautiful view looking out over lake albert. Our stay of one night was not enough. We will definately come back again and book in for a longer time. So much to thankyou for all the little extras, chocolates, little special notes a bottle of wine. Lovely beds and all so clean. So much thought has gone into making people so welcomed, books, dvds, games. So much. Just wonderful. Thankyou once again.Thankyou.
C.W.Retreat: Seemingly casual yet stylishly elegant. Full of ambience and thoughtful detail from local artworks to fresh herbs, quality glassware & other kitchen items. All this in the atmospheric Coorong - a blissful combination! Loved the wood fire, garden, frog pond and boardwalks. PS we paddled your kayak across to the sand spit occupied by Terns & beautiful Oystercatchers then walked to the dunes to be part of the sunset on our paddle back. Wow! Thank you - Linden and Nick
We loved our stay albeit a brief one in the Coorong Waterfront Retreat last week, we wish we could have stayed for a longer period.
It was a wonderfully peaceful place with a perfect location to see the pelicans and seagulls feeding near dusk, and the sunset on display in the broad expanse of sky. The morning birdsong chorus was delightful, and the home-grown herbs and passionfruit a thoughtful contribution to the ambience of our stay. As well as the ‘welcome’ note of complimentary champagne and chocolates, of course.
The house was very well set up, clean and simple, it has given me a number of ideas for our family beach house. We do have the same coloured stripes on the doona covers so we are on the right track .
We will hopefully return one day for a more in-depth visit to this amazing part of the Australian coastline.
Delia & I and Wendy Shepherd spent two nights at the Coorong Retreat and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves , the views , the sunsets and the birds.
It was not enough time.
However, the real thrill was the impeccable accommodation. It had everything we needed and was tastefully appointed ( some great artwork) and very clean.
Our compliments to the owners for creating an incredible gem that we want to return to & will unhesitatingly recommend to our friends
Ideally situated for one or more nights. The views are lovely and the retreat has everything you could want whilst staying.
My husband and I had two delightful nights at the Coorong Waterfront Retreat. We travelled around the area, walked and bird watched. The house was beautiful. Very comfortable living rooms and bedrooms. The garden is a gem too! Loved seeing all the birds and hearing the frogs in the pond. Our hosts were exceptionally helpful and thoughtful. We fully recommend this Retreat.
